Background Information
When dealing with multinational operations, organizations must be conscious of both short- and long-term production costs. In this particular case, Apple is considering both of these issues, and the company is also required to look at the production function to determine whether it is feasible to continue operations in foreign countries or it should enhance its manufacturing base in the United States.
Instructions
1. Before beginning this assignment, read Chapters 5 and 6 in Economics for Managers.
2. Read the case study “The iPhone in China” in Chapter 6 of Economics for Managers. Consider your answers to these prompts:
a. Analyze how examples in this particular case impact the short- and long-run decision on plant location. Explain how this is affected by the short- and long-run production function.
b. In terms of the production process, how can diminishing returns affect Apple in this situation?
3. The Bible tells us we are to be patient in making decisions. Find a Bible verse discussing the topic of patience. How does patience in decision making in the Bible relate to patience in business decisions?
4. Write a 500-word paper answering the questions in Step 2.
5. Write one paragraph answering the question in Step 3.
6. Incorporate a minimum of two sources and your Bible in addition to the text in this assignment. Your sources may include scholarly sources, credible newspapers, trade journals, or websites. Be sure to use OCLS to find these sources.
7. Use APA formatting for your paper and citations.
8. When you have completed your assignment, save a copy for yourself and submit a copy to your instructor using the Dropbox by the end of the workshop.
